My research interests focus on understanding the factors that influence the development of wheat streak mosaic virus epidemics. The wheat streak mosaic virus poses a significant risk to wheat producers throughout Kansas and the other major wheat producing regions of the world. Specifically, I would like to understand how environment conditions and the host-virys-vector interaction affect the dispersal of wheat curl mite (Aceria tosichella). Using this information, I will be able to improve existing wheat streak mosaic virus epidemic models to better predict major outbreaks of the disease.
