Departmental Facilities

Throckmorton Plant Sciences Center & Greenhouses

Plant Pathology shares the Throckmorton Plant Sciences Center with the departments of Agronomy, Horticulture and Natural Resources (HNR), and the Northeast Area Extension office; 100,000 sq ft. of the attached greenhouses are shared among these three departments and with the Departments of Biology and Entomology.

Laboratory space is modern and well-equipped, and interaction with other departments is strong.
Phase I of Throckmorton Hall was completed in 1981. Phase II, a $27-million addition, was completed in 1994, when the west wing was designated as Merrill Hall and the complex name was changed from Throckmorton Hall to the Throckmorton Plant Sciences Center. The building is 455 ft. long, about as long as a city block and half again as long as a football field. Plant Pathology has 40,000 sq. ft. of laboratory, classroom, and office space.
