  • Dr. Bob Bowden - Genetics and biology of Fusarium graminearum. Host plant resistance.
  • Dr. Erick De Wolf - Identification and management of fungi causing wheat diseases.
  • Dr. John Fellers - Mapping and cloning genes in wheat for resistance to Karnal bunt, leaf rust, stem rust, scab, septoria.
  • Dr. Doug Jardine - Identification and management of fungal pests of field row crops.
  • Dr. Megan Kennelly - Ecology and management of large patch of zoysiagrass, caused by Rhizoctonia solani. Management of dollar spot of creeping bentgrass, caused by Sclerotinia homoeocarpa. Identification of fungal diseases of fruits, vegetables, trees, turf, and ornamentals.
  • Dr. Chris Little - General and applied aspects of fungal diseases in sorghum and soybean. Particular emphasis is placed upon Fusarium thapsinum (grain mold of sorghum and related diseases) and Macrophomina phaseolina (charcoal rot of soybean).
  • Dr. Kevin McCluskey - Genetics and genomics of classical mutant identification
  • Dr. James Stack - Director, Great Plains Diagnostic Network.
  • Dr. Richard Todd - Genetics, genomics, molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry in growth, metabolism and developmental processes in filamentous Ascomycetes. Determining gene organization, expression, regulation and function in the model fungus Aspergillus nidulans and in related fungal plant pathogens.
  • Dr. Chris Toomajian - Population genetics and comparative genomics of Fusarium spp. Generating and analyzing DNA polymorphism data from Fusarium species in order to infer genes important in the molecular adaptation of these pathogens to their host crops or environments. Performing comparative genome analysis between related species to understand the process of genome evolution and identify fast-evolving genes with potential roles in pathogenesis.
  • Dr. Harold Trick - Develops transgenic approaches to disease resistance.
  • Dr. Barbara Valent - Genetics and functional genomics of the rice blast fungus, Magnaporthe grisea and its host, Oryza sativa with a focus on molecular understanding of the "gene-for-gene" surveillance systems by which plants detect and defend themselves against pathogens. Analysis of the AVR-Pita and Pi-ta resistance gene system for elucidation of recognition and triggering mechanisms, defense signal transduction pathways and defense responses. Understanding avirulence gene functions in the infection process. Population biology of fungal avirulence genes as an aid to R gene deployment.
