Biography

Dr. Tuan M. Tran obtained his Ph.D. in Plant Pathology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He received his Bachelor in Biotechnology at the University of Science, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. His research focuses on understanding how bacterial virulence factors modulate plant cell biology to thrive in host tissue.

Education

Ph.D., Plant Pathology, 2016, University of Wisconsin-Madison

B.Sc., Biotechnology, 2008, University of Science, Vietnam

Research

Our research interest uniquely positions at the intersection of bacteriology and plant cell biology. We approach questions in Plant Pathology with various approaches, including advanced live-cell imaging and imagery data analysis, lipidomics, proteomics, RNA-Seq, etc. Projects in the Plant Bacteriology lab at K-State focus on understanding the regulations of plant immunity via membrane nanodomains, microbial effectors biology, and biofilm mechanics that facilitates bacterial virulence.
